Fall is my favorite time for craft foam bath fun! Since thin craft foam sticks to the tub surface like magic with just water, there are so many possibilities to what kids and parents can create at bath time. Wet craft foam = a tub of Autumn trees and leaves for little ones! http://wp.me/p4cwrM-qP Click To Tweet Like my other craft foam bath activities, I roughly-made this one on the spot – sitting beside him in the bathroom with my scissors and foam collection (found at Michaels or you could buy it on *affiliate* Amazon). I mostly only needed to cut out a basic tree shape with branches because I ended up using the turkey feathers from my Turkey Tub Bath Fun post (that’s they the one red leaf looks funny…it was a turkey snood)! I just save all of my random pieces from each theme, because many will be multi-use for
We are all about bath time fun around here. Anything to get the toddler into the tub! Besides these magical monthly craft foam ideas which stick to the wall, homemade bath paints are another favorite way to transition easily into bath time. I’ve tried DIY tub paints a couple of ways, but the best way (easiest and most fun) is using yogurt! A little bit of plain yogurt in a muffin tin with some food coloring goes a long way! And since I make my own crock pot yogurt at home (here’s how you can, too), it is super simple to always have on hand. If you’re using ready-made food coloring, I encourage you to buy those made from natural vegetable colorants, without synthetic dyes or corn syrup. No need for kids to sit in such unnecessary ingredients, so a brand like India Tree (affiliate link if you’d like to buy it
With Autumn in full swing, I’ve been trying out new combinations of essential oils to diffuse together. Especially as the big series of holidays approaches at the end of the year, I find myself very comforted by many aromas of the season. Here are some great oils that I like to choose from which can create smells similar to a spiced cider, pumpkin pie, and other crisp, harvest time blends. The beauty of diffusing is there is no exact science. Bigger rooms may need more drops total, but my main level is fine with anywhere from 5-8 drops. Have fun playing with combinations of two or three (or four or five!) of these oils…but of course, any one by itself is also a lovely experience. For example, Young Living pinned the graphic below using four of these oils in their “recipe”. I didn’t have all of these oils on hand, so I’ve
It’s that time of year again! Stores are running out of pencils, binders, crayons, glue sticks as tons of people are scrambling to get them in time. They are called ESSENTIAL oils for a reason… ARE YOU A TEACHER?? Although this is my third year out of the classroom, I still feel the residual anxiety and anticipation that a new school year brings. I wish I would have known so much about essential oils back when I was teaching so that I could have utilized essential oils for myself and in my room! Some teachers are able to diffuse many of these oils I’m going to share with you in

I recently graduated from my 200-hour yoga teacher training and I love, love , LOVED every moment of it. The good, bad, and ugly. The following video is NOT good yoga instruction, alignment, sequencing or any of that. It is simply a supportive husband and fun-loving son always up for helping mommy play around with whatever ideas in her head she wants to try out. We always have a blast together. I wish the ending had recorded because it went a lot more smoothly, but alas…I had no idea the computer was closed following the juice break (and spill). Does your home practice sometimes look like this with little ones around? I do hope to one day not neglect this blog so much and update it with more homemade recipes, practical essential oils tips, plus incorporate yoga and meditation. After all, it’s a hodge podge of natural living, healthy wellness

Whether you’re snowed indoors or just looking for some fun, white play dough time, this recipe is easy and great to squish while staying warm and cozy. Homemade Snow Dough! Peppermint playdough recipe http://goo.gl/ZmdzeX Click To Tweet I use my favorite play dough recipe all the time as a base and play with a variety of colors (like using kale juice to make this lucky green dough). With the ingredients for this basic recipe, you can make homemade play dough with practically any color any time of year. Add some pure, kid-safe essential oils and have yourself a therapeutic, sensory activity together! This general play dough recipe makes a dough similar to a bread or pizza dough…which isn’t perfectly white. It’s still wonderful though so perfectly fine to just use the ingredients listed in the graphic below. We are currently snowed inside with 20 inches in Maryland and a full 24

I am not a doctor or a dentist; I am simply a jittery patient who does not particularly enjoy being in the dentist’s chair. Here are some essential oils tips to help a dental visit not bite. How can aromatherapy assist an oral appointment? (Be sure to check out Essential Oils 101 and my other resources to learn the basics of what oils are and how they work.) The use of a personal diffuser necklace may be just what you’re looking for. There are many different styles of diffuser jewelry to explore, but the main gist is that drops of oil are applied to an absorbent material that can be worn and enjoyed aromatically throughout the day. My favorite store to purchase diffuser necklaces and bracelets from is Lowcountry Eclectic – and they happen to be a wonderful family business. I have no partnership with them; I simply truly recommend them
I just LOVE doing laundry. I adore it SO much that I do it every few days. Nothing makes me happier than sorting, washing, drying, folding, and organizing my family’s clothes all day long. Just kidding, but I try to convince myself of this to make the never-ending task a bit less tedious. We used cloth diapers on my son until he potty-trained, and I actually credit that as one of my big ‘gateways’, if you will, into the natural living world. Learning about the care for various fabric and diapers (like how using fabric softener, dryer sheets, or certain detergents is frowned upon with them) made me begin to think and question the laundry products I’d always known. I oddly did find the routine of washing cloth diapers soothing during my postpartum depression chaos, which I explained in this post…and see my cloth diaper wash cycle process here. (NOTE: This recipe below isn’t for cloth
I’ve said it before, how New Year’s Eve is my least favorite holiday. I suppose it is the vibe where folks feel obligated to look back on their year and also make new promises to themselves for the new year as if it’s some magical day of the year. I get the impression that people fake happiness for this day more than any other. Have you ever seen those countdown programs on TV?! Those smiling, dancing people freak me out. If this holiday DOES work for you, that’s wonderful! Absolutely keep on loving it, reflect and resolve away! It IS fun to dance and celebrate, I get that. I just feel too forced to do it on New Year’s personally, but respect that other people absolutely resonate with this time of new starts. I mean no offense to New Year connoisseurs; different strokes are a beautiful thing! But if you
