  Why is lemon essential oil one of my favorites? Because I think it’s amazing that the drops of one oil can both clean your house and/or refresh your body, mind, and spirit?! So I’m up to my elbows in toddler messes, when the doorbell rings.  I do what any normal mom does…drop to the floor and crawl over to peek out the window, avoiding being seen in my stained yoga pants and unwashed face.  My first thought is, “Oh crap, I probably scheduled a playdate and forgot again!” Whew, not our friends or neighbors or those stinking vacuum salesmen again.  Oh wait…it’s my favorite person! Well, favorite person of the moment at least…the Fed-Ex driver!  I see that beautiful brown box and remember what day it is!  My essential oils are here!  I continue to hide though (bra-less), until the truck pulls around the corner before I swoop out and rejoice in oily delight! Homemade Dishwasher Tablets (No Borax)

Once I made homemade laundry detergent, I realized I could easily make my own dishwasher detergent and rinse aid as well.  It is super simple to mix this recipe (minus the water) as a simple powder you could scoop into your dispenser, but I thought it would be fun to mold them into handy tablets.  I was right!  It is fun…if you’re into this sort of thing. I also knew I wanted to use citric acid after I used it to make bath salts and bath fizzies as gifts.  It’s foaming action seemed like the perfect addition.  I did not want to use borax…mostly because I didn’t have it on hand.  Also, because there is a little debate out on – although I feel it is much safer than most of the ingredients in store-bought detergents.  Which leads to my obligatory ‘why you should avoid *insert product here*… The two big

Just when you thought oil pulling couldn’t get any more amazing… About eight months ago, I (attempted to) implement a beneficial Ayurvedic regimen known as “oil pulling” into my daily routine. I shared what I had learned and experienced in the beginning in a previous post, Adventures in Coconut Oil – Oil Pulling, which I hope you’ll check out if you’re looking for more information on getting started.
