Not all essential oils have to break your budget!  Quality certainly is everything, which is why I only use Young Living Essential Oils with my family and in our home.

Did you know that since you only use a drop at a time usually, essential oil bottles can last a LONG time; some more than others to me depending on their benefits/usage.  Here’s how much each drop costs of some of  the oils I use most often:

Why are some oils more expensive than others?

It depends on the herb/root/plant/bark/resin/stem/etc that is being grown, harvested, steam distilled into it’s essence, and bottled properly.  Peppermint grows much more easily and abundantly, (and perfectly well in the United States) than the boswelia sacra plant (the resin that gives us Sacred Frankincense essential oil which is best cultivated/distilled from the country of Oman), so Peppermint essential oil is less expensive.  Interest Facts Infographic About How Concentrated Affordable Essential Oils Are Lemon Lavender Peppermint Young Living

The Idaho Blue Spruce essential oil requires drawing the essential material from the bark of the blue spruce trees with thick, broad limbs which are particularly difficult to feed through a chipper.  Although this tree grows well in the United States, this essential oil costs more than Peppermint because of the care and time involved in the process.

Another example is one of the most expensive oils…Rose Essential Oil.  It takes 22 POUNDS of rose petals to distill a small 5-ml bottle of Rose oil.  Can you imagine how many rose petals it takes to weight that much?!  Yet it is an absolutely incredible for balance, harmony, love of others and self, the skin, and much more that you should definitely go research further right after this post!

There are so many other instances of some crops requiring years-long soil preparations or proper time before/during distillation, etc that perhaps I should dedicate to a separate posts, or check out Seed-to-Seal in the meantime.  The point here is, the price of essential oils can vary greatly due to their unique properties, processes, and ebb-and-flow of crops/harvest seasons.  Yet consistently there are many essential oils under $20 or less.  (Prices as of time of post; may vary like I keep reiterating)

Year after year, I believe in/recommend the Premium Starter Kit as the most affordable and perfect way to have everything you need to start the oil change in your life.  You can certainly add these oils on to that purchase or at a later date, or redeem earned points to get these items and more IF you wish.  Here is my referral link to order the Kit or other essential oil item…my family is always grateful of your purchase and happy to help at any step of your ordering/oily journeyNot all essential oils have to break your budget!  Find out why some oils cost more than others, and see 36 affordable essential oils for under $20.!  And here’s my holiday guide to some more inexpensive oils-related stocking stuffers.
