Why Do I Recommend Young Living?
When I started using essential oils in my DIY cleaning products, I used whatever brand I found at my local market. Seemed to work fine for me for that purpose, but then I considered using them topically. The more I started learning about health, the more I learned about chemicals in food and household products…and the more I started caring about the quality of my items. I cannot eliminate all of the dangers and toxins in my environment, of course, but I can choose to limit where I CAN. There are choices for a healthier way of life, for ourselves and our world.
I support local farmers and sustainable living. We buy organic when we can, pastured eggs, grass-fed beef, raw milk, non-GMO ingredients. Just as I care where my food comes from and is raised/treated, so do I concern myself with cleaning and beauty products. If it’s going in or on my body, it needs to be clean. Unadulterated. Natural.
Being pregnant and having my son really sealed the deal for me. From the moment I found out I was carrying a child, I treated myself differently. I suddenly became very vigilant about to what I was exposing myself, and thus my wombmate. I cared more than ever about what went into my environment. I have met other moms who felt the same change of thinking. How odd is it that we don’t respect ourselves as much as we do when another life depends on it? I explored and found my favorite brands of coconut oil, fermented cod liver oil, raw honey, shea butter, etc. that meet my needs. The same goes for my essential oils. After a really absurd amount of personal research for about a year, I concluded that Young Living is the ONLY brand of oils I TRUST to put on and in my body, and use on my family.
My friend puts it best on her website, The Oil Dropper: “Essential oils are the life force of plants. They are distilled from flowers, trees, roots, and bark. This process is specialized and what allows the essential oil to keep their properties, benefits and high concentration if properly grown, distilled and packaged. Young Living takes pride in their Seed to Seal Process meaning no pesticides, no additives, batches tested prior to distribution their process (read more about it here).” From acres of sweet lavender in Utah to rows of fragrant eucalyptus trees in Ecuador, their global farms (which you can visit, tour, reserve, etc) are emblematic of the purity and quality of everything Young Living does. No other brand can say that.
The Problem With Other Oils
(This section from The Well-Oiled Life)
“The vast majority of other essential oils are extracted using high heat, high pressure, and chemical solvents. Although the final product may still contain the aroma of the plant, these harsh processing methods destroy the therapeutic qualities of the oils. Using lesser-quality oils for therapeutic purposes is never recommended and can be extremely toxic.
Another problem is that there are currently no standards when it comes to labeling a bottle of essential oil. If a bottle of oil contains just 5% essential oil, by law it can be labeled as 100% Pure Essential Oil!
So if you see labels like ‘Organic’, ’100% Pure’, or ‘All Natural’ on a bottle of oil at the health food store, you still have no way of knowing the quality of the oil. Especially if that bottle is $8 or $12, it has more than likely been mass-produced very cheaply, with very little attention to the way it was processed. In a cheap bottle of oil, the therapeutic compounds have been destroyed by the heat, pressure, and/or chemical solvents.
Hopefully in the future there will be labeling regulations for essential oils. The FDA has actually asked Gary Young (founder of Young Living) to help set standards for essential oil labeling because of his expertise! This is just one more reason I trust in the quality of this brand!”
And my most important reason of all…
Young Living essential oils were the only brand where I could truly see and experience their effectiveness personally. No other lavender has soothed my mind and skin like YL. Diffusing Peace & Calming oil, as well as Joy, changes the entire mood around this house when we need it. Thieves oil has stopped my toddler’s runny nose in its tracks, and disinfects our dishwasher loads. I haven’t seen a single ant, spider, or rodent since spraying peppermint oil around the windows and baseboards, and we had a HUGE problem last year before I did used EOs. Valor and Frankincense have deepened my yoga and meditation experiences in such a cool way. Even my skeptical-at-first husband says we’re batting 1000 with our oil uses. I can’t wait to continuously share with you more of my oil testimonies on this blog, and would be even more excited if you discover some of your own “whoa” moments with essential oils!
Order Your Own Essential Oils Today
I found a great place to start is the Premium Starter Kit. It is how I first tried my oils and is the most cost-effective way to start using the oils, AND get a wholesale membership at the same time…24% less than paying retail. If you’re like me, this “wholesale membership” may sound scary at first, but I assure you I run away from scary things and can fully vouch for this. Think of this as a membership similar to Costco, only with Costco you pay to belong and you receive great pricing, with Young Living you receive a starter kit with essential oils and a diffuser. You can purchase at wholesale price in the future, or never buy again if you want. It’s simply a great deal and access to the best oils.
The Premium Starter Kit comes with 11 oils, the Home Diffuser, a wholesale membership (save 24%!), and if you enroll with me below, I will also send you a FREE thank you gift and special resources! No strings attached. You do not have to promote the oils like I choose to do OR spend any certain amount. Just enjoy lower prices on the oils for your family! It’s simply a great deal and introduction to essential oils.
Are you still dragging your feet?! That’s OK…I did too. Oh man, did I question/grill/interrogate my friend before deciding I wanted to try the starter kit.
