Below is how you can make just a little bit (which was more than enough for “one serving” on my lips, hands, and face. I get multiple uses out of this amount) or make a bunch (great gifts!). Then print my handy label for free and TA DA…heaven in a jar.

Just a little bit (makes about 2-3 ounces):

  • 1/16 cup white sugar
  • 1/16 cup raw cane sugar
  • 1/16 cup liquid coconut oil, more or less to preference
  • 3/4 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (can make your own like me)
  • 1 drop of Vitamin E Oil or contents of Vitamin E capsule (optional; super moisturizing and naturally preserves longer)
  • The “shavings” of a couple chocolate chips or a baker’s square (optional; delightful)

Combine together. Can adjust to desired texture. When ready to use, scrub on and wash thoroughly off. Enjoy your smooth body parts!

If you’re like me, some will likely end up in your mouth accidentally on purpose…and a little is certainly ok. Especially if your coconut oil and Vitamin E is food-grade. I must caution you against eating by the spoonful just because I don’t know what ingredients you will use and it is wise for me to be internet-safe. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also warn you to not go overboard with the cocoa powder; too much could make your skin brown for a wee bit. Although I did this once and I kind of liked the slight bronzing effect…

You can use brown sugar or any sugar you want, but I liked the combination of white color with larger raw granules. You could instead use almond oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil…lots of great choices. I used liquid (aka fractionated) coconut oil because it always stays liquid. You can melt regular coconut oil to use, and it just may solidify a bit more with time – which really is no big deal at all. Using a dark chocolate cocoa power would be even more, well, dark and dreamy. When you make your own beauty products, you can play around with pretty much whatever you want!

Wait, what?! No essential oils in this scrub?!  Odd for me, I know.  These ingredients are already beneficial for the skin, but you could most certainly add essential oils in for added perks as well as unique aromas.  Perhaps cinnamon bark, or orange/Citrus Fresh, or peppermint, or lime!  Use only high-quality essential oils on your body.

I want more! (makes about 1 cup, or two small jelly/salsa Ball jars):Homemade Chocolate Sugar Scrub recipe plus free printable label - www.OddsandEvans.com

  • 3/4 cup sugar (I did about half and half white and raw cane sugar)
  • 1/4 cup liquid coconut oil, more or less to texture preference
  • 1/2 to 1 TABLESPOON cocoa powder (probably no more!)
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (can make your own like me)
  • A few drops of Vitamin E Oil or contents of a few capsules (optional; super moisturizing and naturally preserves longer)
  • Chocolate shavings as desired (optional; delightful)

Combine together. Can adjust to desired texture. When ready to use, scrub on and wash thoroughly off. Enjoy your smooth body parts!

“Chocolate, especially dark chocolate is high with anti-oxidant properties. Cocoa powder, unsweetened is exceptionally good for you. Packed with anti-oxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties, pure cocoa or dark chocolate, can reduce risks from both, degenerative diseases or cancer. The compounds found in cocoa are found in plants that promote healthy cellular development. These compounds also promote healthy skin tissue.

So many benefits for the body, when taken in moderation. It is also great for topical use on the skin. It helps firm and renew skin cells.”
